The Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions works to transform seafood supply chains into powerful drivers of environmental and social change. We cannot achieve our desired outcomes without the leadership of individuals who help to set our strategy through their service on the Alliance Board.

The Alliance Board is electing two (2) new members to serve from December 2024 to December 2026. The Board is seeking leaders who have experience or competencies in one or more of the following recruitment priority areas.

RECRUITMENT PRIORITIES

  •  Experience in one or more of the following topic areas through current or previous work:
    • Human/labor rights and social responsibility of seafood 
    • Seafood business/industry or related company 
    • Fundraising, philanthropic partnerships, development
  • A strong understanding of:
    • collective action initiatives, coalitions, or pre-competitive collaborations
    • seafood supply chains, interventions, and measuring progress/impact
    • the nexus of environmental and social issues in seafood 
    • the complexities of the responsible seafood movement and its diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to bring a global presence, ideally through lived experience
  • Racial, ethnic, gender, and age diversity
  • Interest in and capacity to help lead a collaborative international organization
  • Preferred, but not required:
    • Connected to a strong fundraising network, willing to leverage connections on behalf of the Alliance
    • Previous non-profit board experience

ALLIANCE BOARD TERMS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • The Board is open to established and emerging leaders from any Global Hub member organization, or those interested in joining the Global Hub, and operates according to the Alliance Board Terms of Reference.
  • The Board must remain an NGO majority group and may have up to five (5) members from for-profit organizations serving at a given time.
  • The Board service term is two (2) years, ending in December 2026. Terms can be renewed twice, for a total maximum duration of six (6) years.
  • Board members are expected to attend all Board meetings and high-priority Global Hub convenings hosted within reasonable working hours for their time zone. The full Board meets quarterly via teleconference for 90 minutes and hosts subcommittee or project-specific calls as needed during the other months. Individuals can expect to dedicate up to three (3) hours a month to Board activities, depending on their level of engagement.
  • The Alliance Board will meet in person once or twice a year, ideally in conjunction with the Alliance Conference and/or other highly attended seafood events. The Alliance is able to support modest amounts of Board member travel expenses to in-person meetings.
  • Board members may be located anywhere in the world but must be willing to join calls outside standard working hours, when required. Meetings will be hosted in English and we encourage the participation of non-native speakers.
  • This is a volunteer position without compensation.

You may nominate yourself or a colleague for the position by completing the form below. Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis with a final deadline of November 27. The Alliance Board will elect new members on December 17 at their meeting.
