Conversations for a Sustainable Seafood Future

What is the East Asia Exchange (EAX)?

The East Asia Exchange is a 9-month series of virtual and in-person conversations designed to advance the sustainable seafood movement in East Asia. Through dynamic sessions, the series will engage key stakeholders on the region’s most pressing issues, highlight progress driven by local NGOs and industry, and provide a platform for East Asia-based voices to educate global audiences on the challenges, opportunities, and successes in the East Asian seafood landscape.

We are working to foster new connections between regional leaders and potential partners outside East Asia, build mutual understanding, and lay the groundwork for future collaboration. Topics will be chosen, and discussions will be led by CASS members based in East Asia, who may also invite additional speakers/presenters as needed. The journey will culminate in a special in-person convening at TSSS in October 2026.

This virtual series is part of a larger CASS focus in East Asia, aimed at creating long-term symbiotic relationships between East Asian seafood leaders and the global movement to accelerate sustainable seafood progress.

KEY DELIVERABLES

• Develop a clear, collective understanding of the current state of seafood sustainability in East Asia, including emerging relevant opportunities for global stakeholders
• Engage East Asian policy makers, civil society, and companies in dialogue that spurs action and propels the East Asian sustainable seafood movement forward
• Enhance mutual understanding between East Asia-based actors and initiatives in other regions, enabling knowledge exchange, adaptation of successful approaches, and opportunities for scaling impact across markets.
• Provide an accessible platform for geographically diverse participation
