Here at the Alliance, we always thrive off the fresh energy of a new year. With a brand new strategy kicking off and new work plans in tow to guide the work, it only feels right to welcome in two new board members to help make it all happen.
Please join us in welcoming to the 联盟委员会, Wakao Hanaoka, Founder and CEO of 海鲜遗产, and Renee Perry, Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Social Governance at Culimer USA!
You may know Wakao from his tireless efforts to build partnerships with stakeholders from across the seafood industry, both throughout Japan and internationally, which has led the way for a profound transformation in Japanese and Asian seafood markets. And if you haven’t been following Renee’s social justice and sustainability advocacy work, we’re thrilled to be the ones to introduce you to her ahead-of-the-curve philosophy.

The team and I are pleased to have the opportunity to work so closely with them both to leverage the power of the Alliance to lead the seafood industry forward on environmental and social responsibility.”
We are honored to get to work with Renee and Wakao. Our new strategy is all about growing a more inclusive membership base beyond western NGOs, to include collaborators from other regions and points of the supply chain and sector. By bringing a diverse membership together and providing them with the tools and support they need, we know we can count on them to lead the seafood sector toward a more just and sustainable future. Wakao’s experience in Asia and Renee’s leadership on the business side means we’ll be better able to excel in creating initiatives and convenings that support our members in doing just that.
