Collaboration with Latin American NGO to enrich Alliance efforts south of the border

The Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions (CASS) is pleased to announce the addition of another international NGO to their list of collaborating organizations. Centro Desarrollo y Pesca Sustentable (CeDePesca) is now the third Latin American organization to join the Alliance.

“CeDePesca has been committed to CASS’ guidelines since they were launched for the first time,” explains Executive Director, Ernesto Godelman, “and we are proud to have cemented our commitment by becoming a collaborator. CeDePesca will benefit greatly from the interaction with other CASS’ members and we hope to be able to contribute to the Alliance with our experiences on FIP implementation in the Latin American region.”

CeDePesca works with the fishing sector in Latin America to achieve socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable fisheries. A hands-on NGO with the technical expertise required for effective fisheries management, their approach prioritizes research, stakeholder training, and proliferates management systems that ensure the sustainable use of fisheries resources.

Frazer McGilvray, Conservation Alliance Executive Director, highlights the opportunity the partnership represents, saying: “The global nature of the problems our work seeks to address necessitates meaningful collaboration across nations. We believe that CeDePesca’s expert knowledge and diverse perspectives will enrich our efforts to help creative positive change in seafood supply chains and extend the reach of our work in Latin America.
