The Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions convenes a Global Hub of members representing 120 organizations across 25 countries working together to lessen the environmental and social impacts of seafood production. After years as a highly engaged member of the Alliance, GLOBALG.A.P. is furthering its commitment to collaboration in the responsible seafood movement by becoming an Annual Sponsor of the Alliance.
Roberta Anderson, Executive Vice President of GLOBAL.G.A.P. North America and longtime collaborator with the Alliance shared that for GLOBAL.G.A.P., the decision to support the Alliance’s efforts was simple. “The Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions provides valuable opportunities to connect with other organizations with a shared commitment to responsible seafood production. Active participation inspires new ideas, catalyzes collaborations, and advances us toward our common goals. We are pleased to support the Alliance’s important work through annual sponsorship.”
GLOBALG.A.P. is a brand of smart farm assurance solutions that include a range of standards for safe, socially, and environmentally responsible farming practices. The GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance standard for aquaculture covers the key topics of food safety, animal welfare, workers’ health, safety & welfare, environment, and traceability at all stages of seafood farming.
Last month, GLOBALG.A.P. launched the revised standards and add-ons of Integrated Farm Assurance (IFA) v6 and the GLOBALG.A.P. Risk Assessment on Social Practice (GRASP) v2. Representing the first implementation stage of the new smart farm assurance solutions vision, the new products offer streamlined, impact-driven, and connected solutions for the entire sector. IFA v6 introduces more rigorous sustainability criteria on greenhouse gasses, ecosystem restoration, food waste, animal welfare, and more, as well as moving towards streamlined, customized checklists that reduce duplication and simplify the audit process at farm-level. IFA v6 also prioritizes outcomes achieved, rather than specific measures in regard to meeting criteria. This provides greater flexibility as it allows producers to demonstrate compliance in different ways based on what is most appropriate for their production practices.
GLOBALG.A.P. will be running a free smart farm assurance solutions webinar series that will take an in-depth and scope-specific look at everything connected with the standards. Aquaculture sessions will be held in English, Spanish, and German across several time zones, including a session in English on Friday, May 27 at 11 AM PDT.
The Alliance is grateful for GLOBAL.G.A.P.’s partnership through its sponsorship of the Alliance and continued participation in the Global Hub!
