Central to our efforts to solve sustainable seafood’s biggest challenges here at the Conservation Alliance , you will find people. Over 40 mission-driven conservation organizations located across the world make up our membership body, and represent expertise from all corners of the sustainable seafood sector. So it is no surprise then, that the people who helped to create the Alliance ten years ago and established the collaborative spirit and commitment to excellence that is so key to our values, be themselves, exceptional seafood heroes. Alliance founding member and Advisory Board member, Tobias Aguirre, is one of these people.
Now CEO of FishWise, a consultancy that provides innovative market-based tools and expertise in sustainability services, human rights action, and traceability best practices for seafood companies, Tobias is more than an influencer in the field of seafood sustainability — he is indeed a leader. In recognition of outstanding wins for our oceans and the people who depend on them for their livelihoods, he has been selected as the 2018 Outstanding GPS Alumnus by his alma mater at the UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy. The distinction seeks to celebrate the work of alumni for their contributions to society and career achievements.
Tobias will be recognized for his leadership and commitment to serving as a champion of our oceans at the GPS and ISP Alumni Weekend Reunion on June 2. To read the full story on how Tobias went from hopeful GPS student to Outstanding Alumnus, please click here.
From the entire Conservation Alliance community, we wish to congratulate you, Tobias, for this well-deserved celebration of your work!
