In recognition of the important – widely undervalued – role of women in fisheries and aquaculture, Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is proud to partner with Seafood and Gender Equality (SAGE) and Conservation Alliance for Seafood Solutions (the Alliance) to celebrate women in seafood at the 2024 Alliance Conference, coming up this fall in Mexico.
The Alliance Conference convenes attendees from leading NGOs, businesses, foundations, and academia united in the belief that if we work together, responsible seafood production and trade can protect our ocean and the people who depend on it. The Conference is an invaluable opportunity to learn about emerging trends in the responsible seafood movement, bring visibility to environmental and social responsibility efforts, and forge strategic partnerships.

We are excited about the growing impact of the Ocean Stewardship Fund and hope to see the diversity of applicants—in gender and geography—grow as well.”
MSC has a keen interest in supporting initiatives that build power with women working in seafood. Through its Ocean Stewardship Fund, MSC has issued 140 grants totaling US$6.6 million have been issued to deliver lasting change in the sustainable seafood movement. The next round of funding opens in the Fall and the organization is especially interested in proposals from women-led initiatives.
