Integral Sustainability in Fisheries
Leading by example OPAGAC has accredited the integral sustainability of our fishing through: APR certification on Social and MSC certification in the four tuna RFMOs on Environmental sustainability, being one of the first in the World able to complete the integral sustainability in fishing.

Dr. Julio Morón is Managing Director of OPAGAC / AGAC since 2007.Before becoming director, he was Scientific Advisor to the same Organization since 1997. From 1994 to 1997 he worked in the Seychelles for the Spanish Institute of Oceanography directing the Spanish Fisheries Office, dependent on the General Secretariat of Fisheries of Spain. From 1991 to 1994, he worked as an FAO Associate Expert for the Indo-Pacific Tuna Program (IPTP) in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Since he finished his studies at the Complutense University of Madrid in1989, he has worked as a fisheries observer aboard several fishing boats, making cruise to the Malvinas, Central Atlantic and Gulf of Cadiz fishing grounds aboard freezer trawlers and surface longliners. He is currently also First Vice President of the Spanish Fisheries Confederation (CEPESCA), Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of the Sea Real Academia del Mar de España) and President of Group 4 of the European Commission’s Long DistanceAdvisoryCouncil (LDAC).
