Romel Alberto Alcocer Diaz

Romel began fishing at the age of 14, working at the Manuel Cepeda Peraza Fishing Production Cooperative Society, where he still belongs. At the age of 18 he was accepted as an active member, where he held the position of Social Security, sometime later he was elected Treasurer, and he also held the position of Secretary of the Regional Federation of Fishing Industry Cooperative Societies of the Eastern Zone of the State of Yucatan, sometime later he was named President of said Federation.

He currently serves as the Administration Secretary of the Federation and President of the Community Inspection and Surveillance Committee of the Eastern Zone of the State of Yucatan, where we ensure that the closed seasons and sizes of marine species are respected. To compensate for all that the sea has given us, we continue with artisanal octopus fishing and we self-restrict for a month when catching lobster. We also contribute to the reproduction of sea cucumbers in a laboratory reproduction project to later release them.
