It’s October which can only mean one thing around here: it’s Annual Conference season! With less than one month left until this year’s gathering, the Alliance is a flurry with activity as we prepare to welcome over 100 of our colleagues to beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico, October 24-26.
We’ve been talking to conference attendees about why, a decade after our first community gathering, they keep coming back to the Alliance Annual Conference. The word cloud below shows what they had to say. The top responses? Connect, learn, and collaborate.
Connect
With changemakers from across the world and the responsible seafood movement signed up to join us in person later this month, the Annual Conference is, according to some attendees, the opportunity each year to catch up with colleagues and forge new relationships. When folks from environmental NGOs, human and labor rights organizations, seafood companies, and sector-leading academics are all together in one room, making the connections you need to to be successful in your role couldn’t be easier.
Learn
At the Alliance, we love to help our members share their experiences so that others can make more progress on their own projects. The Alliance Annual Conference is centered around community-led sessions that bring others along on their learning journeys through interactive workshops, high-energy lightning rounds, and collaborative breakout groups. Plus, pre-conference information packets share details about attendees and what they’re working on to help create a landscape view of community efforts for conference-goers.
Collaborate
We often hear of connections formed at the Alliance Annual Conference that later turn into formal partnerships that help drive impact. Whether you need help on a project or have expertise to share, being in the room for critical conversations about the responsible seafood movement means you won’t miss out on opportunities to collaborate on efforts that you’re passionate about.
We started the Annual Conference because Alliance member organizations wanted to meet in person with others from the community, share experiences, and identify opportunities to strengthen their projects through cross-organizational partnerships. Years later, we’re still putting on an event that helps attendees level up their efforts through these same goals around connection, learning, and collaboration. It continues to be a privilege to create the space for our community to convene in this way. We can’t wait to reconnect with you all in just a few short weeks!
Thank you to our sponsors for their generous support of this year’s Alliance Annual Conference
